A COLEFORD woman who suffers with a rare genetic disorder is recording an album to raise awareness of her condition.
Keen pianist Stephanie Jones has been playing the piano for the last 20 years and wants to play at weddings and get her name ‘out there.’
Local singers Hannah Marie and Ellie Higgs also feature on the album Over by the River.
The 28-year-old has DiGeorge syndrome, known as 22q11 chromosome disorder, which results from a missing piece of chromosome – a genetic fault, or mutation.
She said: “I’m currently recording an album at Berry Hill Studio. Not many people have heard my music and I want to get my name out there.
“I recently met Peter Andre and his wife, Emily, as well as a few other singers in Bristol Calston Hall which my husband paid for. It was a wonderful experience. It would be my dream one day to play the piano with him.
“My condition means I have speech, hearing, and soft palate problems also a lump inside my nose. I had an operation recently to repair my hearing and a hole in my right ear. I also have a heart murmur which affects me in many ways.
“I can’t work because it’s hard when I have constant ear infections and, as a result, I’m ill every two weeks so I love making music – it’s my passion. I love to work with famous people one day – maybe even Peter Andre.
“It doesn’t matter if you have a disability or not, anyone can make their dream come true.”
It is unknown when the album is expected to be released.
