A YOUNG Newent woman is teaming up with a Gloucester pal to undertake a joint 10,000ft tandem parachute jump in August to raise money for the Alzheimers Society.
Natalie Peers, 21, and Nicola Coates, 21, from Gloucester, hope to raise over £800.
"We were together in Gloucester recently fund-raising by giving away Valentines roses for a donation," said Natalie.
"We feel very strongly about this cause as we both work daily with elderly suffering from dementia, Nicola being a student nurse and myself being an activities organiser/carer.
"With working so closely to the individuals you develop a bond with them and when you spend that time with them getting to know who they are, it hits hard when their health deteriorates. It's a very shocking and eye-opening experience and I hope if ever develop this illness that there will be people who also wish to help this charity.
"I think this jump is a once in a lifetime opportunity and never been so excited to do something. I'm checking an amazing adventure off of my list whilst helping a cause I feel so strongly about.
"Once we have raised the amount we are aiming for we hope to carry on the fund raising by taking part in organised runs as well as other group events."
They both have Just Giving pages: Natalie's is http://www.justgiving.com/Natalie-Peers-Jump">www.justgiving.com/Natalie-Peers-Jump and Nicola's is http://www.justgiving.com/Nicola-Coates">www.justgiving.com/Nicola-Coates
