TWO Forest donors who live only doors apart have been thanked by the blood service for donating an amazing 36 pints of blood.

John Hunt (84 pints) and Keith Sterry (52 pints), who both live in Templeway West, Lydney, were thanked by town mayor Valerie Hobman and presented with certificates. John also received a goblet for donating more than 75 pints.

An electrical engineer who specialises in heat seeking equipment, Mr Hunt has been donating blood since he was in the RAF in the mid-50s.

"We were encouraged by the squadron leader to do it for our colleagues – and I've been doing it ever since," he said.

Keith Sterry, a production planner with Watts Tyres, said he made a point of going to donor sessions regularly.

"If I miss one in Lydney I make a point of going to the next one I can manage in Cinderford or the nearest centre," he said.
