having tickets to the Wales v England rugby International at the Millenium Stadium my wife and I arrived at Chepstow railway station and purchased two return fares to Cardiff for the 11.27 train.

The train arrived at 11.34 consisting of only a two coach unit which was, not surprisingly, packed to the doors therefore none of the passengers at Chepstow (approx 100) were able to get on.

The next train was due at 11.50, this arrived on time, and was a three coach unit, again fully packed and with no room for any passengers to join.

Whilst this was going on the ticket office was happily issuing more tickets to the growing crowd of potential customers! We decided enough was enough, went to the car park, got our car and drove to Cardiff.

Two questions seem to arise:

1. Surely someone at Arriva Trains realised there was an International event happening at Cardiff and should have increased the capacity of trains travelling to Cardiff that day considering that most England fans would need transport.

2. Why continue selling tickets when all trains

arriving were full to capacity? Is there no communication between operators and ticket sellers?

What a fiasco and incentive to use trains for public transport. Never again!
