A NEW £3million housing development in Dymock has been opened.
Winding Pool Close is made up of 20 homes, a canal basin as part of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire canal restoration programme, a car park, footpath and play area.
Work started last October and is due to finish in the next couple of months.
Two Rivers Housing has taken on 14 of the properties, with three available through shared ownership (a part-rent, part-buy option) and 11 offered for affordable rent.
Chief executive at Two Rivers Housing, Garry King said: “Dymock Parish Council recognised the need for more housing and we worked closely with them to make sure we created a development to fit the requirements of the village. The scheme will bring a number of benefits to the community and has ensured its future prosperity.”
Two Rivers say they are continuing to build new houses across the county and have invested in 43 new properties for affordable rent and shared ownership.
It is also hoped that the new canal basin, which will be filled with water next year, will bring more tourism to the village.
The homes have been built with added insulation and air source heat pumps that will transfer heat from outside to inside the building and vice versa.
