New store not too pretty!

THERE is now a revised plan for the proposed Tesco store in High Street, Lydney.

Instead of the promised gables and relatively attractive brickwork we are to be given a cut price version in the form of a flat roofed shapeless box. With the demolition of the Post Office and The Feathers Hotel we have lost two of the most important buildings in the High Street area of the town. To replace them with what would be the ugliest building in Lydney would be a scandal.

I would urge anyone interested to examine the plan for themselves at Lydney Town Hall then object to the planning officer. – Ian Storrar, The Coach House, Victoria Road, Lydney.
