AN 18-year-old motorcyclist from Newent died in a collision yesterday evening (Monday).

Police are investigating the road traffic collision that happened on the B4215 at Rudford, near Highnam around 5.15pm.

The collision involved a red Yamaha 125 motorcycle ridden by an 18-year-old man from Newent, and a blue Fiat Punto car driven by a 21-year-old woman from Plymouth.

Despite the best efforts of members of the public, paramedics and air ambulance staff, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car driver was badly shaken but otherwise uninjured.

Any witnesses who feel that they have relevant information and have not yet spoken to officers, call 101 quoting incident number 386 of October 24.
