A FOREST village could have been easily mistaken for Bethlehem at the weekend as the church staged a walking nativity.

Around 70 adults and children gathered with the Rev Rob James at the Cliff on Saturday evening before walking up the High Street.

Children dressed up as angels, shepherds and wise men as they joined Mary and Joseph on their way to the stable in St Peter’s Church at the top of the High Street.

Mary travelled on a pony while everyone followed the ‘star’ as well as calling in to three inns where everyone sang a carol and a part of the Christmas story was read, but Joseph was told that there was no room at the inn.

The journey ended at the church where mulled wine and mince pies were served.
