THE ROLE of clerk to a parish council is a varied one but there are limits.

Jan Corden, clerk to Tidenham parish council, had to explain this to an irate caller who wanted action when she discovered human excrement in a bus shelter.

Mrs Corden told the council: "I had a very irate lady on the phone who said there was human excrement in the bus shelter on the A48. And it was male.

"She wanted me to remove it immediately as children going to Wyedean (School) use the shelter.

"I explained that I take the minutes, sort the finances and give legal advice. I don't clean bus shelters."

Mrs Corden got onto the street wardens who went along with shovel and bag to dispose of the waste hygienically.
