OPEN Farm Sunday at Hope Mansell Farm was absolutely superb.
The event was extremely well organised with demonstrations of sheep shearing, talks from staff about the animals and of course exclusive access to the amazing robotic milking machines.
People of all ages were encouraged to access the areas of the farm, familiarise themselves with the different pieces of agricultural equipment and to take part in different activities including a country walk with things to find on the way.
Our children spent more than four hours just playing on the huge sandpit and hay bale adventure playground.
The ladies on the refreshments worked extremely hard ensuring everyone was well catered for – including home-made cakes, filter coffee and free squash and milk for the children.
The barbecue was a huge success with queues of people eager to try the homemade chilli or the tantalising turkey hot dogs.
A massive thanks goes to Robert and Rachel Davies for opening their farm to hundreds of people free of charge and for making the day memorable, educational and hugely enjoyable. We can't wait until the next one.
