AS the district council is hell-bent on extracting as much money as they can from the people who elected them through parking charges they seem to have forgotten a few more parking bays where they could raise some more revenue.
I am referring to the bays occupied by recycling bins and I have a very good suggestion as to where the district council can put them! I think their car park would do nicely, thank-you.
I would like to put Coleford's parking into perspective. On visiting Llandudno last weekend I noticed they charge £1 for four hours every day, all seasons. I, for one, think that is good value.
There are beautiful views, glorious scenery, grand Victorian buildings, lots of interesting shops, a former theatre which is now a Wetherspoons – a town where it is a delight to wander and marvel at the area, altogether different to the Forest towns.
Also I visited Chester, used 'Park and Ride' for?£2 all day. In December parking is free on Saturday, and there is much more to see there.
And here is another money-spinning venture the district council has conjured up, biodegradeable food caddy bags. I hope people are not buying them.
These bags are of inferior quality. Each time I stretch them over the caddy bin they split. Newspaper is adequate. I am fortunate to get the bags free.
There will always be more letters to write about on this odious and ill-conceived subject.
– Mrs M Ovett, Coleford.
