ON Monday August 20 I parked my car as usual in the Co-op car park which is, of course not, a free park anymore. I went to pay at the machine and found it was out of order. Not wanting to be late for work I scribbled a quick note and put it on the windscreen with a view to moving the car to a different car park in a little while. Of course I got busy at work and by the time I went to move the car almost two hours had passed and an attendant had put a fine on my windscreen for £50!

At this time I was not aware of there being another ticket machine at the other end of the  car park.

I was thinking of challenging the fine.

The thing is, if you pay within 14 days the fine is reduced to £25. But what happens if the fine is challenged and they decide not to waive payment? They can automatically charge the full £50 according to the ticket!

This is a most unfair way of doing things. People should not have to pay in the car parks and as it is driving people away from the towns.

I certainly will not be parking in that car park from now on!
