ROSS on Wye’s award winning Phoenix Youth Theatre returns to the theme of war for its latest show.
Two years ago they wrote and produced their own play – Raid – built around two families during the blitz on Coventry in the Second World War.
This weekend they tackle Simon Reade’s adaptation of Michael Morpugo’s Private Peaceful about a family traumatised by the Great War.
The talented young company rise to the challenge of this uncompromising story under the direction of Sarah O’Neill.
The play is a multi-layered story about a family drawn into the war as Private Thomas Peaceful looks back over his early life and the tensions caused by social divisions.
The production is being performed at the Phoenix Theatre with two matinées on Saturday (October 17) and Sunday (October18) at 2pm and three evening performances from Monday to Wednesday (October 19-21) at 7pm.
Tickets are available from Rossiter Books in Ross or online at www.phoenix-theatre.org.uk
