I HAVE to say how delighted I was to see so many photographs of people enjoying their street parties celebrating the recent royal wedding.

As someone who has organised several such parties in Victoria Road, Coleford, I am aware how much pleasure these give and even 30 years after our first street party I still get stopped in my tracks as people recall their fond memories of these events.

But this letter is not about the past, it is a plea for the organisation of more celebrations for our Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year. To those organising such an event I urge you not to forget our senior citizens. Please make an extra effort to include them in your guest list.

To those not able to organise their own parties up in the Buchanan Recreation?Ground is the Coleford Bowling Club. I have no connection with this club, but they are a warm and friendly group who held a smashing street party this year and are planning an even bigger event next year. You do not have to play bowls or live in Coleford to join and children are welcome and safe.
