LAST week you published my accusation that the Forest council was not acting legally by not placing planning decisions before the full council. For that I thank you.
However you added an editor’s note that the council insist they disagree with me and act within the law. My answer to them and you is the quote from the law:
The Local Authorities (Functions and Responsibilities) (England) Regulations 2000. Schedule one headed: “Functions not to be the function of an authority’s executive.”
Item (1) Power to determine application for planning permission.
The monitoring officer’s response to me is to get the police to serve a harassment notice on me to shut me up.
Your Forest readers, despite being against the Allaston, Sedbury and Northern Quarter developments refuse to support the law.
All I can state is that they deserve the illegal bullying that they get from the council.
Your councillors, to a man or woman, have not read their own constitution.
You Foresters just moan but do not do what you should and demand the rule of law.
– John Timbrell, Drybrook.
