PLANS to extend a weight limit in Ross-on-Wye has just been published.
Herefordshire Council states that it is planning on revoking and remake an existing weight limit order on various roads within Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding area.
The local authority states this the order will be proposing a new traffic regulation order to amend weight limits which will address the existing inconsistencies relating to the current restrictions.
The new order will also see the current weight restriction extended north towards Greytree and Brampton Abbotts and a 7.5 tonne weight limit come into force in Wilton Lane.
Objections can be made in writing to [email protected] or to Traffic Management Team, ADL Traffic and Highways Engineering LTD, ADL House, Armstrong Way, Yate, Bristol, BS37 5NA by noon on April 10.
Meanwhile a number of applications have been submitted to Herefordshire planners for works to be carried out on local trees that live in the conservation area.
Permission has been granted to sycamore tree that will be pollard to fence height at the Hope and Anchor car park / Rope Walk in Ross along with a windblown and dead thorn which will also be reduced to fence height.
Additionally, trees on land along the riverbank at Rope Walk and Long Acres have been allowed to be treated with the willow tree being re pollard. Two Ash trees, suffering from die back will be felled and removed along with the removal of a large dead branch from a Poplar tree which hangs over the footpath.
Works to a holly tree has been given permission to be trimmed back up to 1.8 metres on the side adjacent to Thorpe House in Church Street, Ross, this is to allow for scaffolding to be erected to allow repairs to the property to be undertaken.
Land off Homs Road in Ross has been assessed with a number of trees being re-pollarded back to previous points and the ivy will be severed at its base.
A large popular tree will be reduced by10 metres at Walford House Priory in Coughton which will reduce the risk of limb failure over the main road and surrounding properties.
Three lime trees will be re-pollarded to keep maintenance up and to reduce rick of limb failure at the same address.
