COLEFORD Army Cadet Platoon has raised £1,117 for the Warrior Programme and £400 for the Royal Forest of Dean Rotary Club.

The Warrior Programme helps ex-servicemen suffering from depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress, while the Rotary Club gives a lot of local assistance to local communities.

To raise the money Coleford Platoon members took part in the Forest of Dean Half Marathon in March and held a jumble sale.

Platoon commander Staff Serjeant Instructor Mark Evans, Adult Instructor Serjeant Instructor Sean Gane, Cadet Corporal Nicola Hall and Cadet Josh Gwynne led the way in the run.

Colleagues of Mark Evans from Gloucestershire Police, PCSO Stephanie Mason and Christina O'Konnor-Bryant, also took part.  Sean ran the half-marathon with a 40lb bergen on his back and a board explaining the work of the charity, while the remainder of the team wore fancy dress.
