A NEW 'police point' was officially opened in Newent on Monday (October 3).

Located in the town's library on the High Street, the new police point will be manned periodically and appointments can be made to meet officers. 

Forest Superintendent Phil Haynes said: "People will be able to make appointments to meet officers at these Police Points to discuss any concerns they may have about crime and disorder in the area. They can also be used for pre-advertised surgeries."
