WOULD-be ravers have been warned by Gloucestershire Police to stay away from the Forest this weekend.

It follows the discovery that a metal door to a former railway tunnel near Soudley had been cut off.

Work was underway on Friday (August 6) to replace the door which blocks access to the tunnel.

Gloucestershire Police say there will be extra patrols in the area – and they will close roads to the spot if necessary.

People living close to the site are being asked to report any suspicious activity immediately on 999, quoting incident 151 of August 4.

Inspector Nick Cook, of the neighbourhood policing team, said: “These events, which are run illegally, have a massive impact on the local communities, showing complete contempt for local residents and tourists in an area of such outstanding beauty.

“Our aim is to disrupt any attempts to hold a rave in this area and we would like to thank the local community for their continued support and patience.”
