A SUPPORT service for those dealing with cancer and its aftermath has opened a monthly ‘pop-up’ service at the Belfry Hotel in Littledean, with it’s first meeting this Friday, April 28 from 10am to 2pm.
Volunteer, Madelaine McLaughlin said: “Charlie’s Community Cancer Support and Therapy Centre is based in Gloucester and offers friendship, support, holistic therapies, activities and events to empower you to live well with cancer.
“In recent times the need for support beyond the city became clear, so the hunt for a suitable venue in the Forest began. We have been offered the use of a large room at the Belfry Hotel in Littledean. It is situated on a bus route, with a level car park and disabled access, so we are now in a position to be running a monthly session on the last Friday of the month.
“We are here for everyone affected by cancer in Gloucestershire – people with, and post, cancer, their families and carers. We offer support, through a holistic approach in a ‘friendship café’ environment. All is completely free to those who use the service as we have a lovely group of volunteers, including complementary therapists who offer their time at no cost.
“Charlie’s swiftly grew from once a month in a snooker club on the outskirts of Gloucester to their own premises just off the Bristol Road where they now open three days a week.”
