A PREGNANT woman climbed at least 50ft to safety after rolling her car over an embankment on Littledean Hill.

Abbey Wicks, 32, of Cinderford, who is 17 weeks pregnant, had just dropped her daughter at playgroup when she hit a wet surface and lost control of her green Peugeot 206 last Wednesday morning at 9.50am.

She said: "Paramedics reckoned the drop was between 50ft and 80ft. I hit a tree and rolled several times before landing on the roof. I couldn't get out my side so went across to the passenger side. As no one saw me, I climbed back up the embankment to get help. I was more concerned for my baby than anything else.

"A woman stopped and called an ambulance. Luckily I only suffered cuts and bruises which was a lucky escape, and all was ok with the baby at the hospital."

Family friend, Mark Turner arrived at the scene not long after and said: "It took me an hour to find the car as it had rolled down through the trees and wasn't visible from the main road.

"It happened about 100 yards from the ambulance station but I think it still took a while for them to attend."
