LIKE other parents who have lost loved ones due to motoring accidents in the Forest I would urge everyone to drive with care.

My son Kenwill Jacobs is our missing link. He was the middle child of my five children and he lost his life due to a tragic motor accident not far from his home when he was on his way to the gym.

His birthday was on Sunday January 22 and he would have been 29 years old. It was another reminder of how we miss him. The pain will never be easy. He was the life of our household. He always had a smile on his face and would make you laugh at something he said or did. He has left behind two daughters who must grow up without him.

It is another reminder of how dangerous the roads are in the winter months in the Forest and how easy mistakes can be made – fatal mistakes that involve a lot of heartache and sorrow and lifelong pain for those left behind, especially on special occasions such as birthdays and at Christmas.

As a mother with other siblings I try to be brave and remember the happy times but the 'why's and if only's' are always at the back of every thought.

My message to every driver out there is 'Be careful'. No matter what your age the old saying is so true: 'Prevention is better than cure." I cannot cure my pain but you can prevent it from happening to your nearest and dearest.

I will miss and always love you my boy. Till we meet again.
