NEWNHAM St Peter’s Primary School has just obtained national recognition for its work in improving the well-being, resilience and self-esteem of its pupils.
The Quality Mark Award recognises the impressive work being done by the school to improve progress in reading, writing and mathematics for all pupils, particularly those who are vulnerable to underachievement.
The award, run by Achievement for All, offers support programmes to help schools improve the outcomes for special educational needs pupils or those with disabilities.
The primary school has been working in partnership with Achievement for All since July 2014, during which it has seen a marked improvement in many aspects including working with parents and carers on children’s targets.
Richard Clowes, the school’s pupil premium manager, said: “We are extremely pleased to have gained the accolade of Quality Mark status which the staff have worked diligently towards.
“We aim high and continue to embed our vision of academic, sporting and pastoral care for the pupils.”
Sue Burrows, deputy regional lead at Achievement for All, said: “Staff at Newnham St Peter`s Primary School have worked very hard in their quest to improve outcomes for all pupils, and we are delighted to present them with this award.
“They have demonstrated passion and determination in improving the lives of vulnerable youngsters not only in their school, but the whole community. The children are clearly happy and engaged in their learning journey and are surrounded by an environment that inspires them to work at the highest level.”
