ON Sunday March 27 my husband was taken ill and I had to ring 999 for help. The response was impressive – the paramedics were coming through the door while I was still on the phone talking to the operator.

After tests were carried out it was decided that John should be taken to A and E at Gloucestershire Royal. At A and E , after more tests, he was told that he had had a mild heart attack and that he would be kept in for two or three days more. He was moved to the Cardiology ward for monitoring then on to another ward.

Eventually he was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary where a procedure was carried out. We cannot fault the care and attention which he received while in Gloucester Royal and Bristol Royal Infirmary. The nursing from the staff, doctors and nurses at both hospitals were of the highest standard.

Also, we should like to thank family, friends and neighbours for all the help and offers of help received and the many messages. We were inundated with get well cards, telephone calls and enquiries after John's health which were greatly appreciated.

Special thanks must go to our son and daughter-in-law who moved in the same Sunday that John went into hospital to take care of me as I have a debilitating illness which makes it difficult for me to cope.

They stayed for the seven weeks John was away and for a little while when he came home, I couldn't have managed without them.

Once again grateful thanks to all concerned. God bless you all.
