A QUIZ league is puzzling over who its next question master will be and is looking for new members to join in the brain-teasing, following a season that saw a tight contest between two teams for top spot.

Lydney and District Quiz League brought its season to an end on Sunday, March 24 with a well-attended presentation evening, hosted by Chepstow Conservative Club.

Spokesperson for the league, Sharon Sanderson, said: “What else could we start the evening with other than a quiz?

“After this, trophies were presented to the champions of division one and division two and the winners of the knockout tournament.

“The race for the division one title was nip and tuck all season, and two teams ended the season with 18 points, so the title had to be decided on the total number of match points scored.

“The Rising Sun in Bream emerged as the winning team, with The Bell at Redbrook the runners-up,” she said.

“Although not quite as tight as division one, only two points separated first and second in division two, with the Fountain Inn at Parkend finishing in the top slot and the Blacksmiths in Alvington coming second.

“This year’s end-of-season knockout tournament was won by The Bell at Redbrook, who defeated the Chepstow Athletic Club D team in the final.

“We are looking for new teams of four (plus a question reader for home matches) to join us next season,” she added.

“Matches take place on Sundays and the season runs from November to March.”
