AROUND 100 people turned out to support the first Forest of Dean Relay Ramble in aid of Cancer Research.

So far, Saturday’s event has raised some £1,700 for Cancer Research as part of Relay for Life.

The idea for the ramble came from Fred Bancroft who is a committee member for Relay for Life in the Forest.

Supporters chose either a five- or 10-kilometre walk through the woods around the Speech House near Coleford.

As well as the ramble there was also an Easter egg hunt and Easter bonnet competition and soup and bacon rolls for the walkers.

Julie Drew, who helped organise the event, said: “It is the first time we’ve held the ramble and it was very successful with about 100 people taking part. We’ve raised £1,700 with more to come in and we are planning to hold another next year.”
