AGGRIEVED at what they believed to be an unfair demotion last season, Milkwall's young reserve team are determined to hit back in style this campaign.

Saturday's victory over neighbouring Sling was their third success this season and with a draw also in the bag they are now in fourth position and unbeaten.

And already they are looking ahead to the challenge of playing Redbrook – the Wyesiders have scored 26 goals in four successive wins and it promises to be a match to remember.

Milkwall secretary Graham Grindle says the team is on a mission to return to Division 3.

" I believe we were unfairly demoted. We are really a Division 3 side playing in a lower division and the aim is to bounce straight back," said Grindle.

And they made a great start against Sling with a remarkable goal scored by Marcus Sayce who slammed in a brilliant effort from around 50 metres.

"It was a scorcher, and will be one of the goals of the season," said Grindle who went on to see his team net three more through Kevin Davis, Alan McNeil and Nathan Ray.

Sling's Mark Chilton did well to save a penalty from Sayce.

The division is dominated by Forest teams and Grindle says competition will be tight. "It's fair to say everyone anticipates a lot of cut and thrust," he laughed.

Milkwall's senior team is settling down after mixed fortunes and a couple of NGL Premier Division hidings.

"It has not been the best of starts," admitted Grindle.

"We have had a lot of injuries but players are coming back now and the team is starting to settle down. Hopefully they will soon start to pick up some wins," he said.
