FOREST of Dean superintendent Methodist minister the Rev Diane Daymond is leaving to take up a similar post in the South Devon seaside town of Teignmouth.

It is five years since Mrs Daymond arrived, making history as the Forest of Dean circuit's first woman superintendent minister. With two full time colleagues and three retired clergy, plus a team of lay preachers Mrs Daymond has been responsible for the smooth running of the 15 churches in the circuit.

Ordained in 1993, previously serving in the Swindon and Marlborough circuit, Mrs Daymond says she is sorry to leave the area.

"I have been very happy in the Forest, but I have made no secret that I wanted one more appointment before I retire."

Living in Coleford with husband Roger, along with her overall responsibilities as superintendent minister, Mrs Daymond has pastoral charge of Bream, Clements End, Coalway, Edge End, Ellwood and Mile End Methodist churches.

A special farewell service for Diane and Roger is taking place on July 31 at Bream Methodist Church, starting at 7pm.

Diane's successor is the Rev David Bull, currently minister at Hucclecote, Hartpury, Tibberton and the ecumenical partnership at St Mary's Newent.

Ordained in 1991 it is Mr Bull's first appointment as superintendent Minister. David and his wife Ann will be greeted at a special service of welcome on September 4 (7pm) at Bream Methodist Church.
