FOREST councillors who voted to allow the Severn Revels festival on a farm at Hewelsfield are flying in the face of overwhelming local opposition.

The event is planned to take place on July 21, 22 and 23. But a survey carried out by the parish council and sent to all 196 households in the parish has found just seven people who support the event.

The festival plan was rejected by 160.

An action group has been formed to try and halt the festival and support has already come from the neighbouring parishes – Stcasting a wide net to consider a number of legal aspects," said a spokesman.
