TWO childhood friends turned colleagues at the Review will be starring on national television this Monday lunchtime (December 17), when they appear on popular BBC One show Bargain Hunt.
Carole Richards and Heather Wood, both from Caldicot, have known each other since they were three and were a perfect pair to team up in front of the cameras hunting for antiques.
The duo went to the same school and have worked together as advertising executives for the Review for the last four years.
Heather said: “We spent the day at an antique and flea market in Oswestry with experts Charles Hanson and David Harper.
“It was a great day and a fantastic experience. I can’t wait to see it on television now.”
The duo, who are based at the Review’s Lydney office, spent the day in front of the cameras in June as they joined forces to try to beat the competition and buy antiques that would turn a profit as contestants on Bargain Hunt.
Heather said: “We both love Bargain Hunt and we like going around antique fairs.
“Carole saw they were looking for people so we decided to go for it. It was really good fun hunting for antiques and, while we can’t say what we found, I can say that we had an idea what we wanted before we got there and we managed to find it.
“It was a great atmosphere with plenty of banter. All the stall holders joined in and they all knew the experts.”
“I think we made a good team,” Carole added. “We’ve known each other for years – we went to school together at West End Infants School, St Mary’s Junior and then at Caldicot Comp.
“We didn’t argue, but when you work in a small team you have to get on well.
“It was a very entertaining day and very amusing and it was lovely to see what goes on behind the cameras on such a popular programme.”
Watch Heather and Carole on Bargain Hunt on BBC1 this Monday at 12.15am.
