FACTORY bosses say they have fixed a continuous loud noise that was keeping nearby residents awake at night.

Neighbours of the Lucozade Ribena Suntory plant in Coleford say their peace was disrupted for several days, with one posting that the noise was “like a jet turbine or exhaust pressure dump.”

The drinks giant sent letters to some residents explaining they had a problem with the venting system and a contractor was working to fix it.

And residents have confirmed that things have improved this week, although some say it still isn’t as quiet as it was.

The Forest Council’s environmental health department was alerted to the noise problem, which was first noticed at the start of May.

Coleford LRS site boss Mick Pedder said that contractors had fixed the problem.

“We are happy to report that noise levels have returned to normal following the successful completion of maintenance work to fix a steam vent at our factory,” he said.

“Our on-site engineers have worked tirelessly to minimise the disturbance to our local residents, installing a noise deflection barrier until specialised contractors could complete works on the morning of Saturday, May 5,” he said.

“We kept our neighbouring residents and the Environment Agency up-to-date at all times.”

Factory neighbour Chris Snook posted: “It’s a problem with their venting/ extraction system and it’s permanently venting hence the constant noise. Local residents have had letters.”

Debbie Lewis added: “Apparently one of the venting systems malfunctioned but they’ve had specialised contractors in to sort it. It’s quieter than it was over last few days but not as quiet as it was before.”
