CONTRARY to a recent report, the people of Coleford have not been locked out of Angus Buchanan Recreation Ground. Only vehicles were prohibited. The right hand pedestrian gate remained open for access.

Admittedly the patrons of the Bowls Club have been inconvenienced but their operations and social events continued via the pedestrian access and also members of Coleford FC have been able to reach their ground for evening training.

The left hand stone column was hit by a HGV and is now considered unsafe as there appears to have been more movement over recent weeks.

Plans are in hand to reconstruct the stone pillar, and the left hand gate was removed on August 7 in preparation.

Safety to the users of the grounds was paramount so excluding vehicles was the only option. Vehicle access through the gates is at the owners' risk. – Concerned, Coleford.
