FOREST weightlifter John Brookes helped Great Britain to third place in this year's European Masters Championships.
Brookes, who lifts at Whitecroft Gym, finished sixth from 19 competitors in his 100kg group.
He told the Review: "The atmosphere was electric, the lifting was very competitive and the experience unforgettable. Our European countries have some great champions."
John said the trip to Luxembourg to compete in the event was only possible because of the support he had received.
He was joined on the trip by Graham Jones, also from the Whitecroft Gym, who represented Britain as team coach.
Britain finished in third place behind Germany and Poland and the trophy was presented by team manager Julian Massey to Graham and John to display at Whitecroft Gym.g
