As a retired teacher, I have an interest in education. When schools are under the jurisdiction of county councils, we can discuss and question school issues with our elected representatives at council meetings.
But if a school decides to become an academy, it will to be run by an unelected body such as a business concern, church and or other organisation with its own agenda with sometimes questionable aims. We would have no legal right to question them.
Is this democracy?
