POLICE are appealing for information after a second cyclist in 24 hours was injured in a hit and run incident on a darkened road.

The latest happened on the B4231 Bream Avenue entering Bream from the Coleford direction on Saturday, November 2, around 5.45pm when a cyclist suffered cuts and bruising after a collision with a car.

Both were travelling from the direction of the B4228 junction near the Orepool Inn when the collision happened.

The driver stopped briefly, but then drove off in the direction of Lydney, said police.

The previous evening (Friday, November 1) around 6.30pm another cyclist was also injured in an alleged hit and run collision with a car on the B4234 road, heading from Whitecroft to Lydney just before Norchard railway station.  

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said of the second crash: “We’re appealing for information after a non-stop collision on Saturday (November 2) where a cyclist suffered injuries.

“The incident happened at around 5.45pm on the B4231 Bream Avenue, just before entering Bream, from the direction of the B4228 (The Orepool Inn) and involved a car and a cyclist.

“The vehicle briefly stopped at the scene and then drove off in the direction of Lydney.

“The cyclist suffered cuts and bruising and his bike was also damaged.

“A second vehicle passed the injured cyclist and may have witnessed the collision and police are appealing for them to come forward.”

The earlier collision near Norchard railway station left a cyclist with leg and arm injuries. 

The Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: “There was a collision which involved a vehicle and the bicycle which led to the cyclist falling off his bike. 

“He suffered injuries to his lower legs and arm and his bicycle was also damaged. The vehicle did not stop at the scene and continued towards Lydney. 

“Officers are appealing for the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage of the vehicle, to contact police.”
