BEFORE the bus company make any decision on the 73 bus service, they should take into consideration the petitions and letters from the public. Many of these people are using the service for work and hospital appointments.

An hourly bus service is not a luxury, it is a necessity. The suggestion of a two hourly service is not only silly but completely irresponsible. I would also like to point out that this is the second time that this service has been tampered with.

I have often used the service leaving Chepstow for Gloucester at 10.15am and the return on the last but one bus. On both occasions I have found the bus to be full. Unless every journey is monitored six days a week it is impossible to know the exact number of people using the service. A Sunday one, anywhere, as everyone knows, is completely non-existent.

As regards revenue, I recently saw a pensioner living in Sedbury being asked for the full fare to Newport as she only had an English bus pass. How many other pensioners have had this problem?

I think the 73 service and the public have suffered enough. – Ruth Purcell, Bulwark, Chepstow.
