I write in wholehearted support of the letter by Roger Horsfield of Bream ('Meeting the Taliban'). We must honour our brave soldiers, who continue to do their duty (and more than their duty). But our soldiers ought not to be in Afghanistan (and they ought not to have been in Iraq). To the venality that characterises our wretched set of MPs we must certainly add servility to American imperial interests. It is a sad consequence of World War II. – Gerald Morgan, Dublin.
