SEVERN Cider, based in Awre, has been selected as number one of the top 10 British cider producers, by The Independent newspaper.
The top 10 were selected as part of the National Apple Day, and Severn Cider’s medium sparkling tipple was voted into the top slot. It is rated at 6.3 per cent by volume.
Their cider was commended in the awards for its taste, and it earned them the title Top of the Pips. In a major feature on the awards, The Independent wrote: “Pressed and fermented beside the snaking River Severn, this small family business has been carefully selecting apples from local orchards for three generations.
“They produce a dazzling array of blended and single variety ciders, but this one is top of the pips.”
Hayley Court, who is responsible for sales and marketing at Severn Cider told the Review: “We are very proud of this accolade, and use locally-sourced apples to produce our delicious craft cider.”
