COLEFORD fisherman Shaun Bick has organised a charity run to raise funds that will allow him to enter a special fishing match which could earn much more towards his fund-raising efforts.

"I am going to take part in a charity fishing event for sufferers of Motor Nuerone Disease at Oxford Linear Fisheries in August but I have to raise the suggested donation of £300 to enter," says Shaun.

"To reach this target me and my stepdaughter Mia, 8, are arranging two events. The first was her idea and it is a sponsored run from Coleford to the New Inn, Shortstanding, which she is really keen on doing with me to help raise the cash.

"The other will be a disco at the New Inn with a raffle and other attractions.

"The reason I chose to take part in the fishing match is due to my friend's father currently suffering with Motor Neurone Disease. He is a local man and I would really like to help others like him and his family," says Shaun.

"I am currently working for a care company and know how much this could help those suffering this awful killer."

The three-day fishing match takes place on August 13 and all proceeds will go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Shaun and Mia's sponsored run is on April 21 while the fundraiser will take place next day, April 22, at the New Inn (starting 4pm) including a band (Jim Dunkly and Friends) as well as the raffle.

"We are hoping to get local businesses involved by supplying raffle prizes or donations," adds Shaun.

"Mia's grandparents, who part-own the New Inn, are looking forward to holding the event and have helped out by getting Mia some of her sponsors and putting on the band.

"We would like to thank everyone who has donated and if you would like to donate prizes for the raffle then please contact the New Inn, Shortstanding."
