SIX lambs and two ewes were killed by a pair of dogs on farmland off Grange Court Road, Westbury on Severn.

The attack happened on Easter Monday (April 5) just before Midday. The two dogs were spotted by a farmer who managed to drive the dogs off.

A police spokesman said six lambs and two ewes were subsequently found to be dead with "bite marks on them."

She said the incident is being followed up and police officer will be speaking to the owners of the dogs to decide on the next steps to take.

In a separate earlier incident, a lamb was reportedly attacked by a doberman in the car park of New Fancy viewpoint near Speech House on Sunday (April 4).

Police say the lamb was not seriously injured but stressed the importance of dog owners keeping their animals under control, especially during the lambing season.
