BUDDING golfers at Forest Hills now have the chance to be taught by local professional Will Smith – and, he says, his first challenge will be to increase the junior membership.

The Coleford club has decided to offer a junior golf programme with free coaching sessions for all young members.

Smith said: "I thoroughly enjoyed playing tournament golf but always felt my passion was working with people, coaching golf.

"Being the PGA professional at Forest Hills Golf Club and having use of the excellent facilities on hand here including the 20 bay driving range, gives me a fantastic opportunity to coach all standards of player from beginner to professional."

He started playing golf at the Forest club at the age of 11 and played for the club's junior and men's A league teams.

He became a fully qualified PGA professional in 2003, at the age of 21 and worked at Celtic Manor and Alice Springs in Usk before coming back to his home turf.
