RUNNER Phoebe Crawley of Parkend has taken first place in the County Primary Schools Cross Country final.

Phoebe, 11, started running with the Forest of Dean Athletic Club three years ago and says they give her a lot of tips to improve her technique.

She said: "I train three times a week and each session is one and a half hours. My mum said she was very pleased and that I had done really well."

Her favourite event is the 800m and she also trains for track and field and sports hall events.

Phoebe completed the one mile race in seven minutes.

Head teacher Ros Escott said she was very proud of Phoebe's achievements.

Fellow pupils Lauren Wallis and Laura Taylor were also medalists.
