A FOREST school teacher who has battled with breast cancer is hosting a Halloween fancy dress fundraiser on October 28.

Rhiannon Manns was diagnosed in 2013 – aged just 28 – with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy.

Since then the Forest View Primary School teacher has fundraised to give back to the charities that helped her and other people in her position.

The proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be split between Cancer Research UK and Great Oaks Hospice.

Rhiannon said: “In 2014 I did a skydive that raised over £2,000 and last year I held an auction and ball that raised over £5,000. Sadly I have lost friends and family since my last event due to the disease and it is very important to me that I continue to raise money.

“This year I am holding a Halloween fundraiser at Forest Hills Golf Club (in Coleford) on Friday, October 28. Tickets include curry, chips and rice. The winner of the best fancy dress costume receives a bottle of bubbly.

“I am now on daily medication to help prevent recurrence.”
