SCHOOLS and businesses joined in the fun to raise money for Children in Need.

There were non-uniform days, spotty clothes and pyjamas among the ways of raising money for the charity.

Chepstow School raised more than £1,000 with events and stunts including the sixth form wearing their pyjamas to school.

Staff at Specsavers in High Street also came in their nightwear to the surprise of many people walking past the shop.

Jack Porteous, an assistant at the shop, said: "There were quite a few double takes."

A 1,000-strong Children in Need choir at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on Friday night included 56 young voices from The Dell Primary School in Chepstow.

Rogiet Primary School raised around £270 with a fairground designed by Year Six pupils and a Pudsey Party.

The Asda depot at Newhouse industrial estate raised £122 with a cake baking competition.

The winner was Jenny Lewis who works in the catering department and after the competition was judged by Victoria Jones of Antoinette's Bakery in Bulwark, the creations were raffled.

A Pudsey cake was donated by Dawn Higgs, whose partner Jamie is a manager at the depot.

Asda staff went onto the streets of Chepstow and Bulwark where they collected another £76.

Another £57 was raised in the depot by Keith Edwards who made credit card-sized rotas and sold them for £1. The total raised by the depot was £255.67.
