MEMBERS of St John’s on-the-Hill’s school choir raised funds for Children in Need when they performed for customers at Coffee#1 in Chepstow.

The 31-strong junior choir sang Christmas-themed songs, led by music teacher and conductor, Lucy Marshall, and Christopher Bond, who played the keyboard. They were joined by children from St John’s Nursery, who helped collect donations.

St John’s on-the-Hill headmaster, David Griffiths, said: “Our children put in a huge effort to raise money for Children in Need and sang their hearts out. We are thrilled that so many people enjoyed our music and gave generously.”

•The school has launched its debut CD, Choirs of St John’s-on-the-Hill.

The CD features songs from more than 100 pupils with four choirs – Little Voices, junior, senior and chamber, singing alongside the recorder consort, ukulele group and staff musicians.

The CD costs £10 and went on sale at the recent St John’s Christmas fair and it can be bought from St John’s school reception.
