YOUNG visitors to Chepstow Library had the

opportunity to explore the colourful world of stamps.

There were displays of stamps on many different themes going back to the beginning with the famous Penny Black as well as the opportunity to design a stamp.

The workshop was led by Bev Davies, who runs the stamp club at The Dell Primary School in Chepstow, and John Perry who is secretary of the Newport Philatelic Society.

Mrs Davies, who first started collecting stamps after receiving a special stamp celebrating the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969, said the club at The Dell was proving popular.

She said: "There are stamps with many different themes and designs and it doesn't have to be an expensive hobby.

"We are hoping to generate an interest in stamp collecting among children who we hope will become the next generation of collectors."
