THE peace and tranquillity  in Huntley was recently shattered by a group of three young men, decked out in reflective jackets,  travelling on foot from door to door with the purpose of signing people up to support Battersea Dogs' Home.

I have seen the wonderful work undertaken there myself and fully appreciate the value of the home.

However, surely  it would  be more appropriate to  back Cheltenham Animal Shelter or  Teckles  at  Whitminster both of which can use any support going.

Frankly I think it to be extremely unfair that such a high profile organisation as Battersea Dogs' Home  sends out teams of professional fundraisers when local causes of far greater relevance cannot afford to do the same particularly when people are feeling the pinch. Stay the other side of the M25 please.
