A BLAKENEY woman has represented Great Britain in her first-ever FEI World Para-equestrian driving championships.

Multiple sclerosis sufferer Sue Johnson and her dark brown cob, Toby won the Grade II double clear cones round during a three-day competition in Norfolk.

The phase tests the fitness, obedience and suppleness of the horse after the marathon, as well as the skill and competence of the driver who must weave cleanly through a narrow track outlined by cones with balls balanced on top.

The duo posted a zero score (no balls down and within the time allowed) to finish on a total of 142.43 and rise a place to complete in seventh place.

Sue competed as an individual alongside her fellow Brits and seven other nations at the event which was held for the first time in England.

After the dressage where she scored 51.8 penalties to lie ninth, Sue put up a great performance with the ever-willing Toby to finish eighth in the marathon with obstacles, leaving them in eighth place overnight. Her double clear in the cones was the only one in her section of the championships.
