AS a local resident and a parish councillor living in Tutshill my personal view is that this application by Sustrans should be supported. While I do not agree with everything in their planning proposal, these being the traffic figures and inaccuracies in the available parking locations, I firmly believe that the area would be enhanced by this amenity. Every project on this scale has implications for the surrounding areas but some of these perceived problems are being exaggerated with conflicting views from both sides of the argument. I firmly believe we should take this opportunity to move this scheme forward and ensure that the funding remains in place.
However I must take issue with Mr Cowen's comments last week about the Tidenham Parish Councils planning meeting he attended. Not sitting on the Parish Planning Committee I cannot comment directly about that meeting but the council is there to represent all of the parishioners views, listen to them, and then make a balanced decision on the night of the meeting and not beforehand. Should he feel that this course of action hasn't taken place or parishioners have been advised against attending or stating their opinions as it is worthless then he should report this, with the evidence to the Standards Board for them to take action. – Andy Hossack, Severn Avenue Tutshill.
