YET again, a lack of support for Coleford Christmas Lights!
I feel I?need to say something after what I saw and heard. I stood with the rest of the crowd in Coleford town centre waiting for the parade to come through as my son was participating as a pirate, and, may I add, his school won best float.
Anyway, back to rant. As the floats came through I tossed my loose change into the collection bucket. Only one other person around me put their hand in their pocket to throw some change in. The rest, a good dozen or so, put their hands in their pockets, and that's where they stayed!
Then, and this made my blood boil, a woman behind me in a sarcastic voice said: "I see they really pushed the boat out this year for Santa's sleigh." Maybe if this stupid woman and a lot of other people (and you all know who you all are) were to toss the odd quid into the collection bucket Coleford could do a lot more.
I think they do a fantastic job with what they have to work with.
What will happen is there will be no lights due to lack of funds, interest and volunteers and that woman will be the first person to say "Oh, it's a real pity there's not going to be any lights this year."
What I say is, around Coleford in shops and pubs you'll find Coleford Christmas Lights collection boxes. Why not pop in and toss in a quid, then maybe, just maybe, this rant won't be about you. Let's try and make Christmas 2013 the best ever. Remember, support them, or we'll lose them!
